Historical Background
An announcement from a June 7, 1928, council meeting that predated the Apopka Negro Business League. This typewritten slip of paper might have been distributed as a newsletter throughout Apopka's Black business district. This announcement is titled "Orange Co, Unidentifiable Misc Files, Executions, Reel 9." The writer informs us that judgment had been made against Major Morgan, Cliff Young, R. Hayward, Robert Williams, Sam Weaver, William Powell, William Willis, and Sam Blue. The document adds that these men were all traders with the Colored Cooperative Company. They were fined a total of $274.59, awarded to Julian Howard, representing Howard Grovery Co.
