Historical Background
A set of 1946 council minutes from the Apopka Negro Business League's January 7, 1946, meeting. This typewritten slip of paper might have been distributed as a newsletter throughout Apopka's Black business district. The writer reports that a delegation of Black people came in from the United American Free Will Baptist Church to ask the council about their property on South Park Avenue. The writer notes that the land had been purchased by the Council in order to take care of the church. The council voted to give the church a deed to the South 58 ft of the East 49 ft of lot 58 in Blk H. The writer notes that Sam Weaver, who had previously asked to purchase the remaining portion of the lot, was present to offer $205 cash for it. The Council ultimately accepted his offer as-is.
