Historical Background
A photograph of the exterior of Gladden's Coin Laundry, taken c. 1975. After suffering a massive heart attack at the age of 76, Michael Gladden Jr. opened his last business: a laundromat. Though Gladden's Groceries had to close due to his declining health, Mr. Gladden was never one to waste an opportunity to keep serving his community. His brother, William Gladden Sr., had a daily ritual of delivering mail to Gladden's Coin Laundry every day before going to work at his Shoe Hospital up along 7th Street in Apopka.
